Beginning his professional photography career photographing The Troubles, as a staff photographer at Belfast based editorial photo agency Pacemaker Press, was a baptism of fire.

With no previous experience as an editorial photographer, Stephen’s work recording the violence and mayhem of the time (The Troubles) in the country of his birth was published in the majority of national news and magazine outlets worldwide, including Newsweek, LA Times, Washington Post, New York Times, London Times and The Economist, to name but some.
