Editorial photography portfolio photo of masked rioter in Belfast on the June 1981 cover of The Economist - photo by Stephen S T Bradley, photographer Dublin, Ireland

My first full time job as a photographer involved my hitting the ground running. Literally.

During the three years I worked at Belfast photo agency Pacemaker Press International I photographed riots, funerals, prime ministers, death and chaos during Northern Ireland’s Civil War, known as The Troubles.

Weeks from starting this job my work began appearing on covers of major national news publications including New York Times, Washington Post, The London Times, Sterne, Der Spiegel, Le Monde and the Irish Times.

During my time at Pacemaker I won Northern Ireland News Photographer Of The Year for two consecutive years.
