A terrible beauty – fine art photography portfolio that won Silver at Moscow International Photo Awards 2020

When entering this year’s Moscow International Foto Awards, the name of the W B Yeats poem ‘A Terrible Beauty’ seemed an apt title for my entry showing clouds in seemingly constant battle with planes in the skies high above my home country Northern Ireland.

My subject matter includes airliner vapour trails juxtaposed with naturally formed cloud formations, caught in an ethereal dance high above Cave Hill, Northern Ireland.

Each image was created from a single shot, with adjustments to exposure, contrast and saturation.

This photo series, which won silver in the science/environment category against competition from thousands of photographers across the globe, will be showcased in the MIFA Best of Show exhibition in Moscow later this year.
